Booksellers Should Act Now to Reserve a Room at Hotel ABA - NYC

SOLD OUT! With BookExpo America just over two months away, booksellers who are still interested in staying at Hotel ABA - NYC (the Park Central Hotel) must act now to ensure they reserve a room. All double rooms at the Park Central have been sold out and singles are going fast. This year's BEA will be held from Thursday, June 2 - Sunday, June 5, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The Park Central is located at 870 Seventh Avenue at 56th St. in New York City and is the exclusive hotel for ABA member booksellers attending this year's BEA. ABA encourages booksellers to make arrangements to arrive at the Park Central on Wednesday so that they can take advantage of a Thursday full of free educational programming -- open to all owners and employees of ABA member bookstores who have registered for BEA. (The association encourages owners to bring bookstore staff members, as this event offers a broader perspective on how their store fits into the larger industry, and how important working at an independent bookstore is.)

One night's room and tax deposit -- $125 plus tax -- is required to guarantee the room. All cancellations must be received by April 18, 2005, to avoid the loss of deposit. All cancellations on or before April 18, 2005, are subject to a $25 fee for each cancelled reservation.

There are two ways to make a reservation:

1. Call BEA's Travel Desk at (800) 395-4262. (Press "3", then "6" to speak to a representative.) You will need the special password, which you can get by clicking here.

2. Book online at www.BookExpoAmerica.com and click on the "Travel & Hotel" tab at the top of the page and follow these directions:

  • Click "Book Your Room!" and fill in the number of people in room, check-in/check-out dates, in the "I am a..." field, choose "ABA", type in the special password, click "Search."

  • Find the box for "Park Central Hotel -- ABA ONLY!" and click "Select."

  • Scroll down to "Available Rooms" and click "Select" for the room type.

  • Scroll down and fill out your preference info, then click "Continue."

  • Fill out your name and address information, which includes creating a password so you can check on your reservation later, click "Continue."

  • Fill out the credit card info and then click "Continue."

  • Review your reservation -- you have the option of making edits here -- and click "Finished." A confirmation page will appear. You will also receive a confirmation email from [email protected].

Once the BEA Registration Booklet comes out in April, you'll also be able to fax in the Hotel/Travel Form page to (312) 329-9513 or e-mail all of the info on the Hotel/Travel Form page to [email protected].
