Hundreds of booksellers are supporting the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression (ABFFE) and its all-important work in the fight against censorship by selling products in the ABFFE affiliate program, including reading glasses, bookmarks, and incense.

The brainchild of Mitchell Kaplan, owner of Books & Books in Miami, the ABFFE affiliate program began at BookExpo America in 2008 when one of Kaplan’s sideline vendors, 2020 Vision USA, began giving ABFFE $1 for every pair of glasses it sold to independent booksellers. 2020 Vision sold more than 12,000 pairs of glasses during the first year of the program. “2020’s success convinced us that booksellers are delighted to share in profits from the sale of great products,” said ABFFE President Chris Finan.

ABFFE has since formed partnerships with two more Books & Books vendors: emotionGallery, a French company that produces 3D bookmarks, and Maroma, a supplier of incense and other aromatic products from India. Both are offering booksellers exceptional introductory offers.

EmotionGallery is giving away 144 bookmarks and a compact display with a wheel that shows the bookmark images in motion. Booksellers pay only for additional bookmarks, which wholesale for $1.75 each. More than 200 have signed up for the introductory offer since this year’s BookExpo.

To take advantage of the emotionGallery’s introductory offer, booksellers can e-mail the company at [email protected], or call (305) 576-9013. Additional bookmarks can be ordered online at emotiongallery.com.

Maroma, ABFFE’s newest partner, is offering 50 percent off the wholesale price of its two-bestselling lines of incense. Encens d’Auroville is a display of 14 scents that normally sells for $260; the Kalki display lists for $151 and a set of four burners sells for $12. A complete list of Maroma products is available on the electronic order form at maroma-usa.com/order. Maroma can also be reached by phone at (305) 751-8455 or e-mail at [email protected].
