Binc Foundation Seeks Information About Booksellers’ Changing Needs

The Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation is asking booksellers to participate in an industry survey that will give the organization a better understanding of the current needs and experiences of the nation’s bookstore employees.

In 2014, the foundation conducted its first survey of book industry professionals to gauge awareness and interest in its services for booksellers facing financial hardships. The findings of the survey revealed that booksellers needed additional and different services than were being offered. In response, Binc added a matching grants program as well as homelessness prevention and utility shut-off prevention to its program offerings.

The Book Industry Charitable Foundation believes it is again time to hear from booksellers about what they want and need.

Book industry professionals are asked to take a few moments to complete the survey, which will give Binc a renewed understanding of how to support bookstore employees and their families. Booksellers are also encouraged to forward the survey to other book industry professionals.

The 2016 Book Industry Survey will be accessible from September 6 to October 23 and will take about five minutes to complete. Participants will be eligible to win one of four $50 American Express Gift Cards as a thank-you for taking the time to complete the survey. The results of the survey will be released in January 2017.
