All main store members of the American Booksellers Association will be receiving an e-mail on Monday, March 31, with links to a ballot to elect three directors to serve three-year terms (2014 – 2017) on the ABA Board.

The e-mail from ABA CEO Oren Teicher will include a link to biographical information for the three candidates put forth by the Board, whose names appear on the ballot:

Evans and Norcross are coming to the end of their first term on the Board and are up for a second three-year term.

The ballot also includes space for write-in candidates. Each ballot may only include votes for three candidates. Ballots with votes in excess of three candidates are invalid and will not be counted.

In keeping with the 2011 amendment to ABA’s Bylaws, which established two-year terms for Board officers, this spring Steve Bercu of Austin’s BookPeople and Betsy Burton of The King’s English Bookshop in Salt Lake City, Utah, will begin their second year as ABA president and vice president/secretary, respectively. Their names do not appear on the ballot.

Balloting will end at midnight EDT on April 30, 2014. The election results will be announced at the beginning of May, and the new Board members will be welcomed at the ABA Annual Membership Meeting to be held on Thursday, May 29, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., in conjunction with BookExpo America, at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. The Membership Meeting will be preceded by ABA’s Town Hall meeting from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
