Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

On Friday, June 24, ABA will begin its move to new offices and will be closed from Friday, June 24, through Monday, July 4. ABA offices will re-open on Tuesday, July 5. As ABA makes its transition to its new space, association members should take note of some important information:

ABA's New Address

Effective Monday, June 27, the American Booksellers Association's new address will be:

200 White Plains Road
Tarrytown, NY 10591

The association's general phone [(800) 637-0037; (914) 591-2665] and fax [(914) 591-2720] numbers will remain unchanged. However, there will be no telephone or e-mail service from June 24 through July 4. Phones and e-mail will return when the association opens for business on Tuesday, July 5.

The Bestseller List

There will be no Book Sense Bestseller List (national or regional) the week of June 27. The week following is July 4, so Book Sense will be extending the reporting period for that week and the list will be distributed on Wednesday, July 6.

Here is the upcoming schedule:

  • Tuesday, June 21: the bestseller list produced as usual.
  • Saturday, June 25 - Monday, June 27: reporting period as usual.
  • Monday, June 27: No list this week.
  • Saturday, July 2 - Tuesday, July 5: reporting period extended for 24 hours.
  • Wednesday, July 6: bestseller list e-mailed.
  • Thursday, July 7: bestseller list posted to BookWeb.org.

Send Signed CRP Petitions to ABA's New Address

Booksellers who are participating in the Campaign for Reader Privacy petition drive are urged to continue to collect signatures and to keep sending in petitions. Remember, however, that as of June 27, booksellers should send all petitions to ABA's new address: ABA, Restore Reader Privacy, Attn.: Oren Teicher, 200 White Plains Road, Tarrytown, NY 10591.

Bookselling This Week

There will be no issue of Bookselling This Week on Thursday, June 30. The next issue will be Thursday, July 7.

BookWeb.org and Idea Exchange

It is unlikely that BookWeb.org and the bookseller forums, Idea Exchange, will experience significant downtime. However, there may be an hour or two sometime early next week that users may find the site and the forums unavailable as ABA moves. Nonetheless, it is important to note that ABA staff will be unable to respond to questions in the "Ask ABA" or "Ask BookSense.com" forums. Any inquiries posed while ABA offices are closed will be answered the week of July 5.

BookSense.com: Business As Usual

BookSense.com websites will NOT be affected by the move.
