This week, the ABA E-Commerce Solution announced that Drupal training sessions had begun and some stores have already successfully migrated over to the new, open-source system.

Training sessions are generally scheduled for Mondays at noon Eastern Time to allow stores in different time zones to participate at the same time and to afford enough time for participants to finish a session, which can run anywhere from 90 minutes to three hours. E-Commerce stores that haven't already set up a training session should send an e-mail to [email protected] offering several possible Monday dates in March, April, or May.

In addition, ABA announced that the following E-Commerce Solution features are now available:

  • Local Store Inventory
Booksellers wishing to upload their store inventory can now enable this module by logging in as a store admin, and going to Store administration -> Configuration -> Local Store Inventory. Files must use the .txt extension and be separated by commas, tabs, or pipe symbols. Both ISBN10 and ISBN13 are acceptable formats. The location field is 100 characters long and optional. This field can be used to specify the location of the book in the store. For stores with multiple outlets, a separate file can be uploaded for each outlet. Files can be uploaded at any time; uploaded files will be processed twice during the day.

  • Affiliate Program
This is a new program featuring an affiliate link creation tool and reporting functionality on clicks and commissions for both the bookstore and its affiliates. Existing affiliates will need to re-sign up. To have an affiliate program activated, administrators should contact [email protected].

  • Multiple Outlets
Stores with multiple locations can now create them on their sites and allow customers to choose where they want to pick up an order. (See Store Administration -> Configuration -> Store outlets.) To enable this feature, and for answers to any questions or concerns about the new system, booksellers should contact [email protected].
