Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Early next week, ABA will mail to bookstore members an envelope containing ballots to approve officers and elect directors to the ABA Board, as well as the brochure, "ABA Convention Programming at BookExpo America."

The mailing includes a cover letter from ABA Nominating Committee Chair Suzanne Staubach of UConn Co-op in Storrs, Connecticut, biographical data on the Board candidates, the ABA programming brochure, and a special postage-paid envelope for return of the ballots to ABA's accountant, KPMG. (Please note that the 2005 Book Sense Book of the Year Awards ballot was not included with this year's mailing.)

The Board ballot includes the names of Mitchell Kaplan of Books & Books in Coral Gables and Miami, Florida, for President, and Russ Lawrence of Chapter One Book Store in Hamilton, Montana, for Vice-President/ Secretary. The director candidates listed on the ballot are Chapter One's Lawrence; Collette Morgan of Wild Rumpus Books for Young Readers, in Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Michael Tucker of Books Inc., in San Francisco. Space is also provided on the ballot (as per ABA's bylaws) to include write-in candidates.

Board ballots must be postmarked by Wednesday, April 27, 2005, and returned in the postage-paid envelope addressed to KPMG. They must be received at KPMG by May 4 or they will not be counted.
