 While Harry Potter fans await the series' swan song, scheduled for release when local clocks strike midnight on July 21, booksellers are diligently ringing up preorders, and preparing for finale parties, both extravagant and modest.
With the publication date of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows just a little more than three weeks away, Lisa Holton, president of the Scholastic Book Fairs and Trade divisions, has sent a communication to the company's customers to underscore the importance of keeping all boxes sealed and in a secure location not visible to the public until the 12:01 a.m., July 21, publication date of the book.
For the eight-week period ending June 13, 2007, and based on sales in hundreds of independent bookstores with Book Sense nationwide.

 The Pulitzer Prize-winning Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides (Picador) is the 58th pick of the Oprah Book Club. The announcement was made on the Oprah TV show and via the Oprah website on Tuesday, June 5.
 The June Book Sense Notables flier is now available in a downloadable PDF on BookWeb.org. The flier includes jacket images, bibliographic information, and bookseller quotes.
 Susie J. Horgan's photographs documenting the punk music scene of Washington, D.C., circa 1980, were published this year in Punk Love (Universe/Rizzoli).
Oprah is expected to announce her 58th Book Club Selection on Tuesday, June 5. The title, published by Picador, is available in paperback (priced at $15).
