Junot Díaz, author of the forthcoming children’s book Islandborn, appeared as a keynote speaker at the 2018 Winter Institute, where he spoke about the value of featuring people of color in children’s literature.

This year’s poster is designed by award-winning illustrator Jillian Tamaki based on the theme “One world, many stories,” which highlights the power of books to appeal to readers of all backgrounds.

During her 2018–2019 term, Woodson will promote her platform, READING = HOPE x CHANGE, which encourages readers to embrace the impact reading can have on creating a more hopeful world.

BookExpo has announced the four authors to be featured at its 2017 Children’s Book & Author Breakfast, to be held on Friday, June 2, at the Javits Convention Center.

The Autumn Kids’ Indie Next List features booksellers’ top 10 children’s picks for the fall publishing season, 33 additional titles organized by age group, plus nine Revisit & Rediscover favorites.

For the seventh consecutive season, publishers are offering specials on 10 adult titles and 10 children’s titles chosen by panels of booksellers from across the U.S. as the top upcoming debuts.

Jon Scieszka Named National Ambassador for Young People's Literature

The Library of Congress has named Jon Scieszka (The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales, Viking) as the first National Ambassador for Young People's Literature. The appointment is for a two-year term. As National Ambassador, Scieszka will encourage the appreciation of young people's literature throughout the U.S. through both personal and media appearances.
