Meeting community literacy needs will be the subject of an ABC Children’s Institute panel discussion at BookExpo America.

ABA announced this week that all of the winners of the 2012 Indies Choice Book Awards and the E.B. White Read-Aloud Awards will be attending the June 5 Celebration of Bookselling Author Awards Luncheon at BookExpo America.

For buyers looking to get a jump on remainders and non-book items at BookExpo America, the CIROBE Remainders Pavilion and the BEA Gift Shop Pavilion will open one day earlier than the rest of the trade show floor.

Tickets are on sale now for one of the marquee events at BookExpo America — the Children’s Art Auction and Reception, sponsored by the ABC Children’s Group at ABA.

ABA will hold its 2012 Membership Meeting from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5,  at the Javits Convention Center in conjunction with BEA. The Membership Meeting will be preceded by the association’s annual Town Hall gathering.

The challenges of reaching middle grade readers will be explored by a panel of book industry professionals at ABA’s ABC Children’s Institute on Wednesday, June 6, at BEA.

ABA is offering the free, full-day seminar “How to Succeed at Retail Bookselling: Introduction to the Bookstore Business” in New York City on Sunday, June 3, the day before ABA’s Day of Education and the opening of BookExpo America.

Award-winning, bestselling author Richard Russo will be the featured speaker at the opening plenary session at ABA’s Day of Education, on Monday, June 4, at BEA. Also participating in the hour-long, interview-style opening event will be noted broadcaster and author Lynn Sherr.

Last week, the winners of the 2012 Indies Choice and E.B. White Read-Aloud awards were announced. Now it’s time for booksellers to act if they want to join in the Celebration of Bookselling Author Awards Luncheon to honor this year’s winners and finalists.

Independent booksellers who have registered for BookExpo America 2012 can arrange to meet with publishers at the Javits Convention Center on Thursday, June 4, through a new service offered by BEA.

BookExpo America will once again feature three Editors Buzz Forums, offering booksellers and representatives of the media insights on publishers’ picks for the upcoming season.

Registration for the ABC Children’s Institute is open exclusively to ABA member booksellers and limited to 150 people. Registration will close once the limit is reached or by May 1, whichever comes first.

Hotel accommodations for ABA members and other attendees of this year’s BookExpo America are available through the BEA Hotel & Travel Desk. 

ABA is inviting prospective booksellers to a free, full-day seminar, “How to Succeed at Retail Bookselling:  Introduction to the Bookstore Business,” on Sunday, June 3, in New York City. The program is open exclusively to ABA provisional members and employees of ABA regular member stores.

BookExpo America has announced plans to open the trade show floor to the public on Thursday, June 7, the last day of this year’s event at New York’s Javits Convention Center.
