The Teaching for Change Bookstore in Washington, D.C., was called racist and bigoted by Rush Limbaugh on his radio show for not carrying copies of his children’s books, but the store is receiving words of support from across the country.

The Family-to-Family poverty relief organization is inviting booksellers nationwide to become involved in its One Book At A Time literacy project, which links book donors with children in need.

Changing Hands welcomed the public through the doors of its new location in Phoenix, Arizona, with a soft-opening celebration on May 30. The nearly 5,000-square-foot bookstore features dark walls and shelving, concrete floors, and exposed ceiling ducts, as well as First Draft, a 30-seat beer, wine, and coffee bar.
