April Credit Card Statements Reflect Rate Increase

Beginning with this month's statement, ABA member booksellers participating in the association's credit card affinity program with Bank of America will see a rate increase of .02 percent for swipe transactions. The increase, which Bank of America announced to customers in their February statements, reflects an increase in the interchange rate by Visa and MasterCard. There is no rate increase for key-entered transactions.

Lance Fensterman Named BEA Show Director

On Tuesday, April 4, BookExpo America announced the appointment of Lance Fensterman as show manager. Fensterman, who was most recently store manager for R.J. Julia at Elm Street Books in New Canaan, Connecticut, will report to Courtney Muller, group vice president at Reed Exhibitions. He will begin his job at Reed Exhibitions on April 10.

NAIBA Offers D.C. Bus Tours & Bookstore Visit

The New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association (NAIBA) is once again offering special events open to BookExpo America attendees. Taking advantage of the show's location in Washington, D.C., NAIBA is sponsoring two bus tours that will visit many of the capital's most memorable sites. The first tour, leaving from the Washington Convention Center on Thursday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m., will include viewings and stops at the Washington Monument, the U.S.
