Warner Books Becomes Grand Central Publishing

On March 26, Warner Books Senior Vice President and Publisher Jamie Raab announced that Warner Books, part of Hachette Book Group USA, was renamed Grand Central Publishing. The name change happened a month before the publisher's move to new headquarters at 237 Park Avenue, near New York's Grand Central Station. When the Time Warner Book Group was sold to the France's Hachette Livre last year, one of the terms of sale stipulated that Warner Books must change its name.

USPS Increases International Mail Price

Despite protests from a number of businesses and organizations, this week, the United States Postal Service (USPS) instituted significant changes to its International Mail products. For booksellers, the changes, which include an estimated average 13 percent price hike, may have a serious effect on overseas book sales.

Massachusetts Forum & Education Program Earns Raves

On March 27, approximately 30 booksellers attended an ABA Booksellers Forum and Education Program, held in conjunction with the New England Independent Booksellers Association (NEIBA) in Amherst, Massachusetts. The program was held at the National Yiddish Book Center on the grounds of Hampshire College. The event featured ABA's education session "Participating in the Digital Revolution" and a Booksellers Forum & Strategic Planning Session.

California Gatherings to Feature ABA Forum & Education Program

The American Booksellers Association will be offering a Booksellers Forum and the education session "Participating in the Digital Revolution" in both Northern and Southern California in April. The programs, which will be facilitated by ABA CEO Avin Mark Domnitz, COO Oren Teicher, and Board member Michael Tucker of Books Inc.
