Retail Sales at Bookstores Down in July
Retail sales at bookstores were down by 0.9 percent in July 2016 compared to July 2015, according to preliminary figures recently released by the Bureau of the Census.
July 2016 bookstore sales are estimated at $745 million, compared to sales of $752 million for the same period last year.
For the first seven months of 2016, retail sales at bookstores are up 5.2 percent, reaching $6,185 million compared to $5,879 million for the same period last year.
Total retail and food service sales in July 2016 are estimated at $461.9 billion, compared to $457.7 billion in July 2015, an increase of 0.9 percent.
