To take advantage of the special rate at this year’s Hotel ABA for BookExpo America 2014, the Grand Hyatt New York, ABA member booksellers must book their rooms by midnight EDT on March 31. In addition, every store in good standing that makes a reservation at the Grand Hyatt by March 31 will be entered into a random drawing for free hotel nights, courtesy of BEA.

Single and double rooms at the Grand Hyatt are available at the special nightly rate of $265, plus tax (currently 14.75 percent New York State and City tax per room per night) and a $3.50 per night occupancy fee for stays from Monday, May 26, through Sunday, June 1, 2014.

Every ABA member store that makes a reservation by March 31 has a good chance of winning free hotel nights. BEA is offering 56 prizes, so the odds of winning in the random drawing are high, but only one winner per bookstore member is allowed. Prizes include:

  • 1 grand prize of four free hotel nights (room and tax)
  • 5 second place prizes of three free hotel nights (room and tax)
  • 15 third place prizes of two free hotel nights (room and tax)
  • 35 fourth place prizes of one free hotel night (room and tax)

In addition, booksellers at the Grand Hyatt can look forward to receiving a Welcome Bag filled with advance reading copies of some of the hottest books of the show, as well as other perks.

The Grand Hyatt New York is located at 42nd Street and Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan; BEA will provide shuttle buses from the hotel to the Javits Convention Center and back.

For booksellers looking for a less expensive option to New York City hotel rates, BEA is once again offering accommodations in the dorms at Barnard College. ABA members who book their rooms by March 31 will enjoy a special rate of $75 per night. Details and reservations information are available on the BEA official housing site.

ABA member booksellers are entitled to receive complimentary badges for entrance to the trade show. To receive free badges, booksellers must register as ABA members via the BEA trade show site and provide an ABA member number.

BEA Conference Day, ABA programming, and the Remainders and Gift pavilions will open on Wednesday, May 28. The full trade show floor will be open Thursday, May 29, through Saturday, May 31.
