France to Block Amazon’s Discount Bundling

France’s Minister of Culture, Aurelie Filippetti, said Friday that she intends to introduce legislation that would prevent Amazon from offering both a discount on books as well as free shipping.

France does not allow retailers to discount books more than five percent because large retailers are able to absorb the loss on selling discounted items and small stores are unable to compete.

New CFO for Ingram Content Group

Brian Dauphin, currently the senior vice president of Ingram’s Lightning Source Inc., is succeeding Frank Kerrigan as chief financial officer at Ingram Content Group, effective July 1.

Kerrigan has served as CFO for 17 years and will take over as senior vice president as he transitions into retirement next year. Dauphin joined Ingram’s Lightning Source in 1999.

Independent Publishers Group to Distribute Blue Manatee Press

Independent Publishers Group (IPG) will begin distributing Blue Manatee Press’ titles (PDF), effective immediately. Blue Manatee Press, established in 2011, produces children’s board books and middle grade paperback titles aimed at bringing children and adults together.

IPG, founded in 1971, represents titles from independent presses to the book trade.
