Bookselling authors featured in AM New York; Author Midge Raymond visits Orca Books

Bookselling Authors Featured in AM New York

Bookselling is a trade that often lends itself to writing. AM New York recently featured three aspiring authors who spend their days chatting about and selling books to like-minded customers. Among the list was Michele Filgate, who is the events coordinator for McNally Jackson, in New York City.

Filgate said she considers her job to be “the equivalent of an MFA program,” since she is constantly surrounded by readers and writers.

“I’m very fortunate because I get to meet some of my favorite authors — the ones who inspire me.”

Author Midge Raymond Visits Orca Books

Midge Raymond, an author who is currently on tour for her short story collection Forgetting English, recently recounted her visit to Orca Books in Olympia, Washington, for the Seattle Post Intelligencer.

Raymond, who is on a joint tour with Wendy Call, began her tour at the Olympia store, and wrote, “Orca Books has all the ingredients that make a Fabulous Indie Bookstore: a warm and helpful staff, a great collection of new and used books, a delightful array of gifts, a sweet orange bookstore cat named Henry, and a wonderful location in downtown Olympia near cafes, bars, and restaurants.”
