At this year's BookExpo America, to be held from May 18 through May 21 in Washington, D.C., booksellers will have a number of opportunities to see a demonstration of Above the Treeline, an online software product designed to help bookstores improve finances by optimizing inventory selection. Through a special partnership agreement between the American Booksellers Association and Above the Treeline, LLC, the software is available to ABA member booksellers at a special rate.

John Rubin, founder of Above the Treeline and creator of the software, told BTW that booksellers interested in learning about the product can attend an educational session or they can stop by the Book Sense Lounge for a demonstration. "We will have two sessions during ABA's educational programming on Thursday that are designed for stores not currently using Above the Treeline -- though stores using the software are welcome, too," Rubin said.

The sessions will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and again from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., on Thursday, May 18, in Room 152A. Attendees will see a demonstration of the product, and they can learn more about the special offer for ABA members. "It will be an overview of the program and what it does," he said. "I'll go through the main screens that are most interesting to booksellers."

On Saturday, May 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. will be the "Above the Treeline Users Group Meeting" in Room 144C. Here, booksellers currently using the software will have the opportunity to meet with Rubin, who will discuss the latest developments and enhancements to the product. There will also be a question-and-answer period. Rubin noted that those just interested in learning more about Above the Treeline are also invited to attend.

And if booksellers cannot make it to either the Thursday or Saturday sessions, "people can come by the [ABA/Book Sense] Lounge" to see a live demonstration of the new software, Rubin said. He stressed, however, that for a comprehensive look at the product's capabilities, attendees should plan on attending one of the Thursday sessions.
