HarperCollins Launches Expanded Online Tools Program

On February 22, HarperCollins launched HarperCollinsAdvantage.com (formerly HarperTools). According to the publisher, the revamped website allows booksellers with HarperCollins accounts to access their accounts online and order books directly; track the status of orders; easily search for titles using ISBN, title, or author; obtain cover images; create individual lists; access invoices and statements; receive certain discounts; and perform other tasks. Current users of HarperTools will be able to sign up for HarperCollinsAdvantage the next time they log on to their Tools account. New users can call (800) 242-7737 for a password and link to the website.


Muller Will Oversee BEA

On February 24, Reed Exhibitions announced that Courtney Muller was named a group vice president at Reed Exhibitions and has been given the additional responsibility of overseeing BookExpo America (BEA). She will continue to supervise the gaming portfolio of events, including Global Gaming Expo (G2E), which has been under her purview since 2003. Muller joined Reed Exhibitions in 1991 as a sales executive and rose to industry vice president five years later. During her tenure at the company, she has served as both a sales director, as well as vice president and show manager for BEA, among other roles.

Chris McCabe, who has been running BEA since 2004, is leaving the company to pursue new opportunities. Muller is expected to name a successor to McCabe in the near future.


Multiple Sclerosis Society Names Best Self-Improvement Books

This week, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society announced the recipients of the "Books for a Better Life Awards" at the 10th annual Books for a Better Life Awards benefit at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in Manhattan. The awards honor the best self-improvement books of the preceding year and raise awareness and funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

This year, 40 finalists in eight categories were selected by a distinguished panel of experts. Among the categories are inspirational memoir, motivational, psychology, relationships, spiritual, wellness, the Suze Orman first book, and childhood/parenting. From these finalists, the winner in each area was chosen by secret ballot by three expert judges per category. The list of this year's winners is available on the National Multiple Sclerosis Society website.
