To help booksellers participating in the Book Sense program promote sales of the 2005 National Book Award finalists and winners, the National Book Foundation has provided shelf-talkers in the October Red Box mailing. Included are 20 "National Book Award Finalist" shelf-talkers and four "Winner" shelf-talkers.

The finalists in each of the four categories -- Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, and Young People's Literature -- were announced on Wednesday, October 12, by bestselling author John Grisham at Rowan Oak, the home of William Faulkner in Oxford, Mississippi. The owner of Oxford's Square Books, Richard Howorth, who is also the town's mayor, was emcee of the event. (To download a list of the 20 finalists in PDF format, click here.)

The winners will be announced at the National Book Awards Benefit Dinner and Ceremony in New York City on November 16.
