The audit was performed by KPMG LLP, which expressed the opinion that "the consolidated financial statements referred to … present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of American Booksellers Association, Inc. and subsidiaries as of September 30, 2002 and 2001, and the changes in their net assets and the cash flows for the years then ended in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America."
