For the ninth year in a row, Mrs. Dalloway’s Literary & Garden Arts is sharing “pocket poems” with customers in celebration of National Poetry Month and Poem in Your Pocket Day.

Through March 31, every Children’s Institute bookseller registration received from an ABC Children’s Group member store will be entered into a drawing to win prizes from the event’s keynote speakers. Stores can join the ABC Group now to have their membership retroactively applied to the drawing.

A variety of tools are available to help booksellers promote the ninth annual Children’s & Teen Choice Book Awards. Voting continues through April 25, and the winners will be announced during Children’s Book Week, May 2–8. 

The fourth ABC Children’s Institute will kick off in June with a children’s book-themed Backlist Book Swap; 16 new authors have been added to the Author Reception; and March 31 marks the deadline for scholarship applications.

At Winter Institute 11, an education session presented by the ABC Group at ABA looked at the special challenges that booksellers face in managing inventory for young readers’ series in both general interest and children’s bookstores.

At a Winter Institute education session presented by the ABC Children’s Group, a panel of booksellers and publishers offered tips for repurposing advance reading copies to generate sales while staying within publishers’ guidelines for sharing ARCs.

Children and teens are invited to submit their votes for the ninth annual Children’s & Teen Choice Book Awards through April 25.

Booksellers who don’t want to miss the 2016 ABC Children’s Institute’s six keynote and plenary talks, 10 brand-new education sessions, 30-plus authors, rep picks speed dating, and more should register as soon as possible.

Thirty-four general bookstores and 11 children’s specialty stores have been nominated for the Women’s National Book Association’s 2016 WNBA Pannell Awards.

Booksellers are invited to participate in a display contest in celebration of the 97th annual Children’s Book Week (May 2 to 8). Bonus points will be awarded to stores incorporating the 2016 Children’s Book Week poster.

To date, 32 children’s and young adult authors are scheduled to meet booksellers and autograph their latest titles at ABA’s fourth ABC Children’s Institute Author Reception. More authors are being added on an ongoing basis.

Registration for ABA’s fourth ABC Children’s Institute is now open to booksellers at all ABA member stores. The event will be held from June 21 to 23 at the Wyndham Orlando Resort International in Orlando, Florida.
