Inspired by last year’s positive response to its Banned Books Week display, Michigan’s Literary Life Bookstore & More has expanded plans for this year’s September 25 - October 2 celebration of the freedom to read.

A coalition of organizations and Alaska booksellers, including Fireside Books of Palmer and Title Wave Books of Anchorage, filed suit on Tuesday, August 31, to block a broad censorship law that bans constitutionally protected speech on the Internet.

The American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression this week thanked 74 bookstores that raised almost $48,000 to support its work by selling Freadom gift cards over the past four years.

On Tuesday, July 13, a coalition including the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, Harvard Book Store, and Porter Square Books filed suit to block a broad Massachusetts censorship law that bans constitutionally protected speech on the Internet.

Booksellers are responding enthusiastically to an introductory offer of free 3D bookmarks from emotionGallery, which will make a contribution to the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression for every bookmark that it sells to independent bookstores.

Two insightful, forceful, and persuasive advocates defended opposing sides of a nuanced and important free speech issue at a BEA debate sponsored by the American Booksellers Association for Free Expression, the Association of American Publishers’ Freedom to Read Committee, and the Freedom to Read Foundation.
