The March issue of The Atlantic magazine on sale now includes a full-page ad featuring Book Sense and the recommendations of independent booksellers from the March Picks and Notables lists.

Drawing attention to the uniqueness of independent booksellers' recommendations, the headline banner of the ad proclaims, "There's Nothing Like Book Sense: Independent Bookseller Recommendations." The ad can easily be displayed in stores.

Dropping the Upper Includes the Lower in the Midwest

Midwest Booksellers Association logoIn the spirit of inclusiveness and accuracy, the Upper Midwest Booksellers Association (UMBA) has changed its name to the Midwest Booksellers Association (MBA). "Our new name now accurately includes the whole territory and all of the bookstores that we represent," said the regional's executive director, Susan Walker. "It's a large geographic area to call the Upper Midwest.

Reading Across America on March 2

For the eighth consecutive year, principals and teachers will offer to dye their hair green, be duct-taped to walls, or jump out of airplanes; all-star football players will wear silly, tall striped hats; and governors and mayors will issue proclamations, all to encourage children to pick up a book and read on March 2, the National Education Association's (NEA) Read Across America Day.
