American Booksellers Association is a national trade association that supports and advocates for the success of independent bookstores. We provide members with education, networking opportunities, advocacy, resources, and technology. In turn our members support local schools through book fairs, donations and author visits; promote literacy; provide inclusive community centers; connect readers and books; add character to neighborhoods; champion and center diverse and new voices; and contribute to the local economy. The Mountains and Plains Booksellers Association (MPBA) Trade Show will be held from Thursday, October 2, to Sunday, October 5, at the Marriott Denver Tech Center in Denver. This year's event will offer attendees great bookselling seminars and a stellar lineup of authors. 
Book Sense recently announced the winners of the Make Some Magic With Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix consumer sweepstakes and bookstore display contest. Winning the consumer sweepstakes was 13-year-old Jessica Gerhardt of Santa Monica, California, who picked up the sweepstakes bookmark at the University of Southern California Bookstore in Los Angeles while on a school trip.
