Punching the Air: A Virtual Reading Series

The ABA Children’s Group is launching the first event in its Virtual Reading Series for educators and students with authors Ibi Zoboi and Yusef Salaam for their young adult novel Punching the Air. The events will take place from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET (11:00 am to 12 pm PT) on Wednesday, October 7, October 14, October 21, and October 28. The registration link for the series is available here.

Bookstores that are interested in bringing the Punching the Air Book Club to local educators, students, and readers of all ages can utilize the educators guide and other marketing materials available below. Topics covered in the book club include:

  • My Punches will be my Paintbrushes – the importance of art for teens
  • The Criminalization of Blackness 
  • The Prison-industrial complex
  • The Emotional Work of Social Justice
