In 2019 and 2020, the American Booksellers Association partnered with Well-Read Black Girl founder Glory Edim to bring book club meetings to independent bookstores nationwide with the goal of amplifying diverse voices and supporting emerging writers of color.

Stores that signed on to host book clubs were:

  • Included in ABA promotion of the program in print and online

  • Featured on an interactive online map of locations hosting book clubs

  • Able to download the Well-Read Black Girl stamp for use on your store's website, identifying your bookstore as a book club location, as well as other digital marketing assets.

  • Able to access to a private Facebook group to discuss marketing and best practices with other Well-Read Black Girl book club hosts

  • Able to access suggested titles

Glory Edim is the winner of the 2017 Innovator’s Award from the Los Angeles Times Book Prizes and a board member of New York City’s Housing Works Bookstore.

While WRBG is focused on empowering women, we encourage readers who identify as genderqueer, non-binary, or others who feel inspired by what we’re doing to join us and be a part of our community.
