Start Making Plans for Independent Bookstore Day

Booksellers who are planning to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) on Saturday, April 24, should visit the “For the Trade” section of the Bookstore Day website to check out an array of ideas for how to mark the event, whether in-person or online. Here are some suggestions for stores that are starting to make plans:

• Take a look at some in-store and online celebration ideas (like creating a prize wheel, offering trivia, giving away prizes for social media posts, or doing a virtual bookstore crawl)
• Get your calendar in order by following the month-by-month IBD prep guide
• Be ready at your computer by reviewing social media best practices
• Download Bookstore Day logos, images, and other assets

While the opportunity to order special merchandise has ended, booksellers can still sign up to celebrate IBD. Signing up ensures your store will receive all IBD information and marketing materials, and is included on the searchable map.
