Businesses for Responsible Tax Reform (BRTR) will host a telephone town hall on Wednesday, December 13, at 8:00 p.m. EST (5:00 p.m. PT) to discuss the ways the GOP’s tax reform bill will impact Main Street businesses and answer questions from participants.

On December 2, Republicans approved a last-minute, 500-page rewritten draft of the Tax Reform bill. The Senate and House tax reform bills are now being reconciled by congressional leaders in conference committee. The speed of the legislative process has made it difficult for anyone but tax experts to decipher what impact the final bill will have on small business owners.

The telephone Town Hall will give booksellers a crucial opportunity to ask questions about tax reform relative to their business.

The featured speakers at the telephone town hall will be Alexandra Thornton, senior director on the economic policy team at the Center for American Progress, and Frank Knapp, Jr., a co-chair of Businesses for Responsible Tax Reform and the CEO of the South Carolina Small Business Chamber of Commerce.

Thornton has expertise in tax and fiscal policy, individual and corporate taxation, tax administration, and environment and energy taxes. Knapp co-founded the South Carolina Small Business Chamber of Commerce in 2000 and serves as the president and CEO of the 5,000-plus member statewide advocacy organization.

Booksellers can register for BRTR’s telephone town hall here.

Booksellers with questions about tax reform or any other advocacy matters should contact ABA Director of Public Policy & Advocacy Dave Grogan at [email protected] or (800) 637-0037, ext. 7562.
