After a poll posted to the publication’s website showed that over 95 percent of participants prefer shopping at independent businesses over big brands, Blaeser decided to visit one of her favorite independent stores to interview owner Janet Geddis about why that may be.

The interview, called “A Day in the Life of a Bookshop Owner,” explores why Geddis opened Avid, the place the store has in its community and its efforts toward promoting diversity and inclusion, and the overall importance of books and reading. See the full video here.
