Talking E-Commerce at Wi12

Opportunities abound for IndieCommerce users and non-users alike to talk to members of the IndieCommerce team at this week’s Winter Institute.

Whether booksellers have questions about IndieCommerce, e-commerce in general, online marketing, e-mail, or social media, IndieCommerce staff members with decades of experience will be available to share their knowledge. “We want ABA members to be successful online regardless of what e-commerce platform they are using,” said IndieCommerce Director Phil Davies.

Booksellers are invited to stop by the IndieCommerce Lounge, located in the Skyway Suite on the second floor of the Hyatt Regency, directly across from the escalators. Booksellers will be able to enjoy a beverage and a snack while a member of the IndieCommerce team answers their questions in the lounge between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, January 28 – 30.

Visitors to the IndieCommerce Lounge will also be able to learn about IndieLite, a new basic, low-cost e-commerce solution. Because IndieLite offers only the “must-have” elements of an online bookshop, maintenance is minimal. IndieCommerce staff will be available to answer questions about IndieLite, IndieCommerce, and any other platform an ABA member may be using.

If booksellers prefer not to just drop in, there is still time to make an appointment for a one-on-one meeting with an IndieCommerce staff member at the institute. These meetings are aimed at current IndieCommerce users who would like to learn more and non-users who want to find out if the platform is right for them; attendance at the institute is not required to book an appointment.

Meetings will be held on Saturday, January 28; Sunday, January 29; and Monday, January 30. To reserve an appointment, booksellers should complete the form available here and indicate three preferred time slots. A limited number of slots are available, but the IndieCommerce team will do its best to accommodate a bookseller’s top preference.

Booksellers who currently have appointments that they want to cancel or move are asked to notify IndieCommerce staff as soon as possible.

There are also a few spots left for Friday’s all-day IndieCommerce Institute. This program is aimed at booksellers who have been working on their IndieCommerce websites for at least a year or who are otherwise very comfortable working on the site. The cost for the workshop is $125 per person and preregistration is required. Learn more.
