Sign Up for the March 4 Marketing Meetup on Poetry Books
In March, the American Booksellers Association will host both a Marketing Meetup and a Technology Meetup for bookseller members.
All booksellers are invited to join the Meetups, which typically run 45 minutes to an hour; advance registration is required.
Marketing Meetup: Marketing Poetry Books
Thursday, March 4, at 1:00 p.m. ET
April is National Poetry Month, so what better time to talk about the potential for poetry books in your store? This Marketing Meetup will focus on marketing poetry books and feature booksellers who have experience with the poetry genre, including hand-selling to new and experienced poetry readers and launching poetry-based events and programs in their stores.
Guest speakers will include:
- Yanna Demkiewicz of Milkweed Editions in Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Danny Caine of Raven Bookstore in Lawrence, Kansas
- Anna Claire Weber of White Whale Books in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Nia McAllister of the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) Bookstore in San Francisco, California
Booksellers interested in attending should use the sign-up form at the bottom of the ABA Meetups page to join the appropriate mailing list. Signup is only necessary once to receive credentials for all Marketing Meetups for the rest of 2021. A few hours before each event, ABA will send the meeting link to those who have signed up for the mailing list.
Technology Meetup: Canva Tips & Tricks
Thursday, March 11, at 1:00 p.m. ET
This session will include a basic review of using graphic image platform Canva, a demonstration of customizing a marketing asset by ABA Graphic and Web Designer Melissa Napolitano, and some best practices and tips from fellow booksellers.
Guest speakers will include:

- Tonisha Kimble of Wonders of the World Book and Toy Store (online)
- Jackie Kenny of Paulina Springs in Sisters, Oregon
