Elizabeth Nichols, a member relationship manager (MRM) at the American Booksellers Association, will be leaving ABA for a position closer to home. Nichols was the MRM for the Great Lakes, Mountains & Plains, Midwest, Pacific Northwest, and Southern regions. Until another MRM for the region is hired, booksellers in Nichols' regions can direct questions to Member Relationship Manager Kaitlin Pitcher [email protected].

“Elizabeth has been a terrific employee, and she has been instrumental in helping to create and form the MRM position,” said ABA Membership and Marketing Officer Meg Smith. “I'm very sorry to see her go, and wish her the best of luck.”

The Member Relations Department was introduced last March as a way to provide booksellers with a quick response to questions regarding ABA and its many services, as well as to provide assistance in dealing with industry-related issues. Nichols’ last day as MRM will be on Wednesday, August 10. ABA will hire a new MRM as soon as possible and will have someone in place prior to the fall regional trade shows.

While ABA looks for a new MRM, all membership inquiries can be sent to Kaitlin Pitcher, the MRM for the New England, New Atlantic, Northern California, and Southern California regions. All IndieCommerce site building questions can be sent to Valerie Federici.

Nichols, who lives in New York City, is taking a position within the city that considerably shortens her commute. “Leaving the ABA is a very bittersweet moment for me,” said Nichols. “I can’t think of a better membership base to serve and it has been an honor to work with each and every one of you.  I will be sure to continue reading about the industry and ABA member stores in Bookselling This Week…. Many thanks for such a positive experience and best wishes.”
