Monthly Indie Next List Goes Back to Print

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

The American Booksellers Association is once again producing the monthly Indie Next Lists in print format and delivering the fliers to bookstores in the monthly box mailings beginning with the August list. (No changes were made to the quarterly Kids’ Indie Next List, which will continue to be printed and distributed in the quarterly kids’ box mailings).

In addition to the print list, booksellers can access the monthly lists in digital format in Bookselling This Week the first week of the preceding month (for example, the August Indie Next List will be announced July 1) as well as on Edelweiss. When the monthly lists are announced, booksellers can also visit BookWeb.org to access the following digital files:

  • PDF
  • Excel file
  • Shelf-talkers
  • Now in Paperback flier
  • Now in Paperback shelf-talkers

For IndieCommerce and IndieLite sites, booksellers can select to add an Indie Next List ad banner that promotes titles from the current list. The ad features the book’s cover, the title and author, and a bookseller quote along with the Indie Next List logo. One title will appear at a time and will be shown at random from the current month’s titles; the block can be placed anywhere on the page. To enable this function, contact the IndieCommerce team. See an example here. The ads and the monthly list also appear on IndieBound when the month begins.

In addition, booksellers can sign up to send the free Indie Next List e-newsletter to their customers. More than 670,000 bookstore customers currently receive the list from 171 bookstores.
