Indie App Page Now Live

Customers can now affiliate with their local bookstores through the new Indie App, developed by Kobo. Using the app, customers who purchase Kobo eBooks through smartphones, computers, and tablets can have them credited to their local participating ABA member store.

The Indie App landing page allows users to input a zip code and then select to affiliate with a local bookstore.  (Booksellers who do not find their store after entering their zip code should send an alert to [email protected].)

Kobo program participants will soon be receiving a Kobo App Kit, which includes a poster and shelf-talker that promote the Kobo Reading App to customers. (The materials are packaged in a large white cardboard envelope from Kobo that bears a sticker indicating the contents are time sensitive.)

More Kobo App Kit materials are available in the Kobo section of Designs & Downloads, under the heading “Kobo App Kit.” These include banners, training materials, product images, and digital files for the poster and shelf-talker.

For a complete overview of the Kobo App Kit, program participants should review “ABA Partner App Download Flow” in the Kobo section of Designs & Downloads.

Stores are also directed to the “Constructing Kobo App Links” in Designs & Downloads to update their landing pages to ensure that all customer app downloads are being linked to the store. (Stores that would like ABA staff to double check their links should send an e-mail to [email protected] indicating the page that includes their app links.)

A “Refresh Kit” for Kobo Counter Display

Along with the App Kit, stores that are using the Kobo counter display will also be receiving a “refresh kit.”

The refresh materials to create a new generic display include stickers to cover out-of-date content and new interchangeable takeaway cards that promote the new and existing Kobo devices.  A list of materials in the refresh kit is available here. For issues relating to Kobo demo devices or displays, e-mail [email protected].
