The American Booksellers Association will present its newest marketing meetup on Thursday, July 11, “Catching the Romance Reader,” which will feature booksellers who have experience with the romance genre, including hand-selling to romance readers and launching creative programs in their stores.

Marketing Meetup logoAll booksellers are invited to participate in these bookseller-led educational conversations, which are conducted through Zoom.us and held at 11:00 a.m. EST on two Thursdays a month. Those who would like to participate can sign up on BookWeb.org.

During the Marketing Meetup on Thursday, July 11, at 11:00 a.m. EDT, booksellers will hear from four of their colleagues who have all delved into the world of romance literature through book clubs, pop-up shops, dreaming up annual celebration days, and just generally being romance-friendly.

Booksellers in attendance will hear about best practices for marketing to the romance reader, get suggestions for planning events around romance books, and learn where to source romance title recommendations.

The guest speakers for this session will be Billie Bloebaum of Third Street Books in McMinnville, Oregon, who is the founder of the inaugural Bookstore Romance Day scheduled for Saturday, August 17; Clarissa Murphy of The Silver Unicorn Bookstore in Acton, Massachusetts; Tracie Fain of The Book House in Mableton, Georgia; and Angela Trigg of The Haunted Book Shop in Mobile, Alabama. The latter two speakers are also members of the Bookstore Romance Day planning committee.

BookWeb.org features a page under the Events tab with a listing of all past and upcoming Marketing Meetups, along with Meetup recaps previously published in BTW.
