IndieCommerce and IndieLite Sites See Record Sales
- By Emily Behnke
Due to the overwhelming demands on IndieCommerce customer support during the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19), IndieCommerce is no longer accepting new IndieCommerce or IndieLite contracts at this time. IndieCommerce is doing this so they can address the urgent needs of their current users. Booksellers who are interested in being placed on a waiting list for an IndieCommerce or IndieLite website can submit their contact information using this form.
As readers practice social distancing amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, the IndieCommerce team reports that online sales revenue at IndieCommerce and IndieLite websites increased by 1,350 percent on Monday, March 23, compared to that same day last year. Online sales spiked after author Ann Patchett, owner of Parnassus Books in Nashville, Tennessee, promoted the indie channel on PBS NewsHour that evening.
Driving the sales increase is a 120 percent increase in customers visiting IndieCommerce and IndieLite websites in the past week. The number of IndieCommerce and IndieLite customers who are now making purchases online has increased by 436 percent during the same period. These two factors have combined to create record online sales.
IndieCommerce and IndieLite users should visit the new “Coronavirus Resource Center,” which is being frequently updated with new information about how to add various features to these sites. Booksellers should direct any questions to [email protected].
