On Monday, Apple approved the American Booksellers Association’s IndieBound Reader™ for iOS, and it is now available for download in the App Store.

Unlike the Android version of IndieBound Reader, the iOS version (for iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch) does not include an embedded store. Instead, booksellers can direct customers to visit their IndieCommerce website in the Safari browser on an iPhone/iPad to purchase Google eBooks™  and then use the “Download” link to download their purchases into the IndieBound Reader.

The IndieBound Reader for Android, which does include an embedded store, launched on December 1 and is available for download from the Android Market or from IndieBound.org.

ABA has created an array of materials to help stores promote the new apps. Printable and online images are available to IndieCommerce stores at IndieCommerce.com.

Both mobile apps were developed for ABA by Bluefire Productions, an independent software company in Seattle, Washington.
