Indie Shindig Invites Booksellers to Learn About Upcoming Titles to Benefit Binc
Booksellers are invited to attend the five remaining events in the Indie Shindig virtual event series, where participating publishers split a donation of $10 to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc) per bookseller attendee for each event.
Booksellers from across the country have attended Indie Shindig events, which are hosted by Workman Publishing, Bloomsbury Publishing, Candlewick Press, Sourcebooks, Abrams Books, and Chronicle Books.
“Indie Shindig is a unique and fantastic opportunity,” said Alyssa Raymond of Copper Dog Books in Beverly, Massachusetts. “I look forward to our hour together when I can be part of a community of booksellers and publishers excited about a specially curated list of books. This is a great way to enjoy bookselling during the pandemic and to fight off depression and isolation.”
Across the first nine events, the initiative has raised $3,650.00 for Binc, with the participation of 365 bookseller attendees and more than 230 titles presented. Booksellers can view the Indie Shindig master Edelweiss collection here and recordings from the previous events, which looked at books on the topics of Black Voices Matter, graphic novels and puzzles, award winners, young adult, international authors, debuts, picture books and board books, and more.
Upcoming events will feature new and established series, genre blenders, food, gift books, and more. See the full events schedule here.
“So many books are published each year that it’s a terrific help to have Indie Shindig presentations of the top titles coming out,” said Tanya Mills of The Book Bungalow in St. George, Utah. “A big help in knowing what to order.”
