Courtesy of Hachette Book Group and Black Dog & Leventhal, ABA member booksellers who have registered for BookExpo America 2016 can request complimentary tickets to see a performance by Blue Man Group on Wednesday night, May 11, at Chicago’s Briar Street Theatre. Ticket requests should be sent directly to Hachette at [email protected] by May 4.

Requests will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis until the supply of 100 tickets runs out, so only booksellers who are planning to use the tickets should submit a request.

This fall, Black Dog & Leventhal will publish the first-ever Blue Man Group book. Blue Man World will reveal everything you ever wanted to know about the Blue Men, who for the past 25 years have combined music, technology and comedy to create a unique form of theatre that critics have called “innovative,” “energetic,” and “wildly entertaining.” (Learn more about the show here and more about Blue Man World here.)

BEA will be held from Wednesday, May 11, through Friday, May 13, at Chicago’s McCormick Place convention center. ABA programming begins on Wednesday morning, May 11, at 10:00 a.m. with the opening plenary “Meeting the New Localism Challenge: Protecting and Promoting Communities and Local Economies,” featuring Stacy Mitchell of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance.

Before the start of BEA, on Tuesday, May 10, ABA will host an IndieCommerce Institute from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Drake Hotel, Hotel ABA for BEA 2016. Penguin Random House is inviting ABA member booksellers to an opening-night party at the hotel later that night. All ABA member booksellers — whether or not they are staying at the Drake — are invited to the PRH party, which will be held from 9:00 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. in the hotel’s International Club.
