Here, the IndieCommerce team shares an important look at current trends in the world of e-commerce.

Online sales revenue was down 19.29 percent last week when compared to the previous week. Much of this decline was due to a drop in the ecommerce conversion rate, which declined to 4.71 percent last week from 5.06 percent the previous week.

Contributing to the sales drop was a decrease in online traffic, which reduced by 24 percent over the holiday weekend (blue line) when compared to the previous weekend (orange line).

Seven-day comparison of users/traffic

Fewer people were online for the three-day holiday weekend when compared to the previous week. Those that were online were slightly less likely to complete an online purchase. As the run into the 4th quarter begins, we should start to see a seasonal ramp-up in online traffic and sales.
