Check Out ABA’s New Advocacy Page on BookWeb
- By Molly Bond
As part of the American Booksellers Association’s new advocacy software, ABA has a refreshed Advocacy page on BookWeb, making it easier for ABA members to stay up-to-date with and participate in ABA’s advocacy efforts. Booksellers should familiarize themselves with the page and periodically check back for any new advocacy campaigns.
The main page lists all active advocacy campaigns (previously called template letters) that members are encouraged to participate in. Unlike template letters that required booksellers to complete many steps in order to contact elected officials, the advocacy campaigns are a time-saving one-click tool for contacting your lawmakers. Simply type in your contact information to be matched with your lawmakers and click send on a pre-written message (with the option to add a personalized message).
In addition to the advocacy campaigns, booksellers can use the page to:
- Search for legislation under “Find Legislation”
- Get voting information (register to vote, find your polling location, access a list of political candidates running for election in your area) by entering your ZIP Code and choosing “Candidates” under “Find Officials”
- Find and message your federal and state elected officials by entering your ZIP Code and choosing “Elected Officials” under “Find Officials”
Booksellers can continue to contact ABA’s Advocacy Team, Dave Grogan and Molly Bond, at [email protected].
