On Tuesday, October 15, indie booksellers across the nation will unveil the book jacket for Kacen Callender’s upcoming young adult novel, Felix Ever After, as part of a widespread cover reveal coordinated by HarperCollins in partnership with the American Booksellers Association.

This is the third indie-exclusive cover reveal with HarperCollins, following the reveal of Adam Silvera’s Infinity Son and Eoin Colfer’s Highfire in August.

Felix Ever After, about a transgender boy grappling with identity and self-discovery while falling in love for the first time, will be published by Balzer + Bray in May 2020; as part of the cover reveal initiative, booksellers can invite customers to pre-order the book through their stores.

Callender, who uses the pronouns they/them, is also the author of the young adult novel This Is Kind of an Epic Love Story and the middle grade novel Hurricane Child, winner of the Stonewall Book Award and Lambda Literary Award.

Booksellers can sign up here to participate in the Felix Ever After cover reveal. HarperCollins will provide everything participating stores need to help them easily spread the message, and stores that sign up will be added to a list of stores where pre-orders are available on Callender’s website.

On Tuesday, October 8, booksellers who have signed up will receive a teaser graphic and suggested copy to post on social media.

Stores should plan to share the final cover on social media starting at 1:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, October 15. Stores will receive the final cover, pre-order graphics, and a behind-the-scenes letter from Callender in advance.

Stores that would like to participate in the cover reveal should sign up here by October 11. Details about the cover reveal and pre-order campaign are also available on ABA’s Pre-order Calendar on BookWeb.
