BookScan Begins Migration to NPD’s DecisionKey Platform

BookScan is migrating to DecisionKey®, NPD’s online suite of data delivery and analysis tools, this month, so booksellers should make sure they have received the new login details that will allow them to access the platform.

NPD logoWhen the migration is complete, indie bookstores will have access to the BookScan system through DecisionKey, which delivers data and insights to help improve strategic and tactical decision-making, though there will be no changes in how indie bookstores deliver data or report weekly sales to BookScan.

Booksellers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with NPD’s DecisionKey platform during the month of September, as access to Nielsen systems and information will be disabled on October 1. Since booksellers will no longer receive their reports via e-mail, they will need to log on to DecisionKey for access. However, the new reports available on DecisionKey will be bigger and better than before, with more details and features.

New NPD BookScan login credentials were e-mailed to stores last week. Booksellers should have received three separate e-mails: one from NPD’s Jonathan Stolper with a landing page link, and two from [email protected]: one containing a username and one containing a password.

Going forward, NPD will be providing materials booksellers need to get comfortable using the new online data suite, including a user guide, training videos, and a schedule of live online training sessions. ABA is looking into setting up a webinar this fall so that booksellers can learn more about how to access information via the new DecisionKey dashboard (stay tuned to Bookselling This Week for details).

Booksellers who already report their bestseller numbers but do not have access to an NPD account should contact the NPD helpdesk to receive access to DecisionKey. New stores just beginning to report their bestseller numbers should contact ABA’s Pete Reynolds, who will get them set up with a DecisionKey account.
