Banned Books Week Kits Arrive in Bookstores

Indie booksellers that ordered a Banned Books Week promotion kit from the American Booksellers Association received their kits in the August Box mailing, which was sent out earlier this month.

Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read that brings together the entire book community, including booksellers, librarians, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers. This year, the celebration will be held September 22–28. The theme of Banned Books Week 2019 is “Censorship Leaves Us in the Dark. Keep the Light On!”

ABA’s Banned Books Week kits, which include bookmarks, stickers, counter cards, caution tape, and more, are aimed at helping bookstores and their communities celebrate banned books and free expression.

Booksellers are encouraged to join the celebration by creating displays and events in their stores during Banned Books Week.
