Main Point Books Set to Open

Next Tuesday, May 28, Main Point Books will open its doors to the residents of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.  Owner Cathy Fiebach, whose background is in marketing and brand management, has spent the last year preparing for her new venture. She spoke to friends when deciding what to stock, and met bookseller peers at a Paz & Associates workshop to gain ideas. “It was a chance to meet with 50 booksellers. Everyone was willing to share what works,” she told Main Line Media News.

Fiebach said next week’s opening will be a soft launch. She has planned a grand opening day on September 7, this year’s Bryn Mawr Day, when she will have a full day of programming lined up.

Modern Times Bookstore Seeks Community’s Help

In the face of debt, Modern Times Bookstore Collective is turning to its San Francisco community for help, reported MissionLocal

At a meeting last week, the collective members put a call out to the community, asking for a skilled base of volunteers including lawyers, marketing and PR experts, and fundraising professionals who can help to shape future plans and develop alternative revenue sources, such as online sales. Community members also discussed possible crowd funding.
