As part of the American Booksellers Association’s continuing commitment to fostering relationships among independent businesses of all kinds, ABA CEO Oren Teicher will be part of a panel discussion during Independent’s Day at the National Hardware Show on Thursday, May 12, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Teicher was invited to take part in the panel discussion “Leading the Way: Local Business and Their Value to Economy,” presented by the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) and Hardware Retailing Magazine. The session will look at the importance of independent hardware and home improvement retailers and highlight the vital role independent, locally owned businesses play in their communities and their industry.

Joining Teicher at the roundtable discussion are Bill Brunelle, project manager for Independent We Stand, a shop local movement spearheaded by STIHL Inc., an independent manufacturer of outdoor power equipment, and Rebecca Bautista, the Go Local coordinator for Friedman’s Home Center.

Independent We Stand and several hardware stores were among the trade associations and other organizations that came together on January 18, in Washington, D.C., for the Advocates for Independent Retail (AIR) Summit, organized by ABA.
