AABB New York Book Ban Briefing with Philomena Polefrone (American Booksellers Association)

AABB New York Book Ban Briefing with Philomena Polefrone (American Booksellers Association) (March 6, 2025)

Book bans may not be as rampant in New York as elsewhere, but they're not just a Florida problem, either: they can crop up anywhere. New Yorkers concerned about book bans need to find ways to stay vigilant for book bans in their area, push for legislative safeguards if they can, and use any remaining capacity to support the fight in other states. Philomena Polefrone from the American Booksellers Association will join Authors Against Book Bans’ New York Chapter to talk about: the book ban crisis and how we got here; supporting legislation to ban book bans in NY; what is needed elsewhere; and ideas for collaborations between authors and bookstores in NY. There will be time at the end for questions about all things book bans.
