Ci10 HEALTH & SAFETY
COVID PROTOCOL
In-person attendance at the 2022 Children’s Institute (Ci10) is currently limited to individuals who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
-
At this time, boosters are not required. This means that, unfortunately, unvaccinated children will not be permitted to accompany attendees at any Ci10 events.
-
Although ABA is requiring vaccinations for attendees, others at the resort may not be vaccinated and hotels cannot require their employees to be vaccinated. Masks at this event and on hotel grounds are optional.
-
We have partnered with HealthShield in order to verify vaccination status for all attendees. As part of your registration process, we asked for your mobile phone number. In early May, you will receive a text from HealthShield with instructions on how to upload your vaccination card.
-
Note that HealthShield is not an app, so there is nothing to download. HealthShield is GDPR compliant and US Department of Commerce “Privacy Shield” compliant. Their security measures meet or exceed all current industry standards.
We request that if you’re not feeling well at any point during your stay, or if you are experiencing any
signs or symptoms of COVID-19, to please get tested, regardless of vaccination status or prior infection. For convenience and to prevent possible exposure to others, we recommend you bring your own
COVID tests to the resort.
Below is a list of testing sites nearby (please be sure to confirm that the site is still offering testing before visiting):

CREATING A SAFER SPACE
With anti-trans legislation mounting in various states around the country and particularly in Arizona, ABA wants to make your experience as a guest at our events as safe and supportive as possible.
ABA strives to make all of our events a safer place. We offer support, a listening ear, and an opportunity to be with like minded people. We will have individuals who have volunteered to assist with support and other needs of attendees, and we always enforce our
Code of Conduct.
Whatever the outside political climate, inside any ABA event you will find an environment that strives to be affirming and uplifting. While we do research current legislation during our scouting process, we can not foresee changes, such as the ones taking place in Arizona. We reached out to the governor asking him to veto the legislation, but to no avail. We will continue to vet all future conference locations and try to make decisions that will hopefully provide supportive environments for our attendees and for local booksellers.
