Member stores that have not attended ABA’s Winter Institute in the past seven years are eligible for a scholarship to the 2020 event.

Seven $3,500 scholarships were awarded to dependents of booksellers, and one $5,000 scholarship went to a current indie bookseller who has overcome learning adversity or is a non‐traditional student.

Applicants must be from an ABA member store that has not attended Winter Institute in the past seven years in order to be eligible for a scholarship to the 2020 event.

More than 200 booksellers applied for the 2019 scholarships over just two weeks, representing 145 bookstores in 39 states and the District of Columbia.

The chances of winning a scholarship are high, so booksellers are encouraged to submit their names as soon as possible.

Stores that did not have a Children’s Institute scholarship winner in 2017 or 2018 are eligible to apply; scholarships cover the conference fee, airfare or ground transportation up to $400, and three hotel nights.
